| The League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City again
encourages the Washington Hospital Board members to make your meetings
more available to the public by taping your meetings. The offer to re-play
the meetings in their entirety still stands from the City of Fremont, the
City of Union City. Newark will place copies of the tapes in their library
for public viewing.
Our mission continues to be to encourage open government and to make all elected and appointed bodies more accessible to the public. We know that at some time in the future a large portion of the hospital will have to re-built to meet the increased earthquake standards. When that time comes, you will probably have to ask the public for funding. If the public is satisfied not only with the quality of the health care offered, but also with how open the elected board members are on how these funds will be allocated and spent, passage of any measure would be much easier to achieve. So again, we encourage you to make it easier or your constituents to follow the actions of the board by taping your meetings. The current method is too technical for all but the totally wired members of our community. |
