Good Evening. I am Alex Starr and I represent the League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City.
The League is concerned that the intent and spirit of Measure “T” is being overlooked. Thousands of Fremont citizens voted to preserve the beauty of our hills and the view of these natural wonders. You, the elected council members, are charged with the duty of carrying out the will of these voters.
The proposed placement of the 16,000 square foot home violates Measure “T” in every way. With 80 acres to choose from, and other viable sitings for this home, it is clear to the League that your responsibility as elected leaders is to uphold the will of the people and to deny the proposed placement of this home that is currently before you.
On the ballot the League was one of the strongest proponents of Measure “T” . The League looks to you to sustain the informed decisions of the electorate. You have the opportunity to set the tone for future challenges right now. Please carry out the voters’ wishes by keeping the view of our hills clean as described in the Measure itself.
Thank you for your attention tonight.
