The League encourages the Planning Commission to communicate to the Council that it is important that Fremont meets  ABAG's affordable housing goals. Housing for people who have extremely-low incomes is a special concern. We realize the difficulties the City faces in providing housing for people at the extremely- low income level, but we ask that you explore all avenues of funding to provide it. 

League policy supports "an adequate housing supply of all types, a distribution of housing types in each high school attendance area and a level of public services, amenities and maintenance to ensure that residential environments will maintain their viability and livability."

The League believes that a well-planned city like Fremont can plan for and build affordable housing using increased redevelopment funds supplemented by private funds and city-owned parcels of land so that all the City's residents will have the opportunity to find adequate housing no matter their income levels.
