| Washington Hospital is a great asset to our community, and the League
of Women Voters thanks you for the work that you do to insure that it is
a quality health care facility.
The League is again encouraging you to make your Board Meetings more available to your constituents. Other public bodies in our area have done this by televising their meetings on local public access TV and have found that it does stimulate more citizen participation in their proceedings. In November, we brought to you a letter from the City of Fremont indicating that the City would run a delayed tape of your meetings, and now we are providing you with a copy of an e-mail from the City of Union City indicating that they are willing to do the same. The City of Newark said that although they cannot run the tapes, copies of the taped meetings could be placed in the Newark Library for public viewing. Since part of the League's mission is to encourage open government, we ask that you televise your meetings so they are more accessible to the public. We request that you discuss this as an agenda item at a future meeting. |
