The League would like to support the idea of adding a grant writing position to FUSD. Based on our positions regarding financing in the 3 school districts, we feel that the opportunity to broaden the funding sources for education is a good idea. How that should be accomplished is a decision for you - the board to make. In other words, should this be a full time position or a part time position? How often should progress reports to the board and to the public be required? How often and in which of many formats should donors be acknowledged? How much experience in education grant writing should be required for an applicant? How should success be measured – in total number of dollars raised, in total percentage of the grant writer’s salary raised, i.e. a salary of $50,000 raises $5 million, a great percentage as opposed to a salary of $50,000 raises $100,000. not such a terrific return on investment.
