| The League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City thanks
the Oakland A’s for sharing their vision of Cisco Field and the Baseball
Village in Fremont. The proposal would have an enormous impact on Fremont.
It is the yet to be submittedThe Development Plan, when it is submitted which will spell out the details of how the vision can be accomplished. Both city staff and the A’s are aware of the hurdles to be overcome: access, transportation, parking, public safety, 2900 new dwelling units, schools, the consequences of rezoning industrial land to residential, etcand possible environmental consequences.. When all the costs and benefits have been thoroughly vetted through staff analysis, impartial outside review, Council debate and public hearings, it will be time for decisions on this project. The time for a final decision on the plan will come after costs and benefits have been thoroughly vetted through staff analysis, impartial outside review, a full EIR, public hearings and Council debate. The League of Women Voters will follow the entire process closely and urges all Fremont citizens to become active and informed participants in this important decision-making process. Sincerely, Miriam Keller League of Women Voters Fremont, Newark, Union City |
