__GET LIST OF CANDIDATES FROM REGISTRAR OF VOTERS AFTER CLOSE OF FILING PERIOD.

___RESERVE LOCATION; SEND ROOM ARRANGEMENT TO PERSON WHO WILL SET UP. 
(have a table and chairs for candidates; table at door for LWV Hosts; table outside meeting hall for campaign literature.) 

___REQUEST MIKES, IF NEEDED 
(One for each person or table mike which can be passed)

___MAIL INVITATIONS TO CANDIDATES (Include postcards to notify acceptance) 

30 days before event: 
___APPOINT THE FOLLOWING:

  • _____MODERATOR (Give Moderator checklist/ground rules/names of assistants.) 
  • _____TIMER
  • _____QUESTION SORTERS
  • _____QUESTION  RUNNERS
  • _____HOSTS (2 at door) 
___RELEASE PUBLICITY & FLYER (to Libraries, chambers of commerce, local newspapers, put it on your web site etc.) 

15 days before event: 
_____PREPARE NAME PLATES FOR CANDIDATES (MINIMUM 2" HIGH LETTERS) 
_____PREPARE LOTS FOR CANDIDATES TO DRAW FOR ORDER OF SPEAKING
_____PLAN TIME BLOCKS FOR FORUM (very important if many candidates.) 

Day of event: 
MODERATOR ARRIVES 30 MINUTES EARLY; MEET CANDIDATES & CHECK NAMES; DRAW LOTS & MARK ORDER ON SCRIPT. 

_____Bring gavel, procedures, ground rules, invitation letters, and script. 
_____Review setup of head table; place nameplates; check water glasses; test microphones. 
_____To see & be seen, Moderator apart from candidates. Ensure no campaign literature, etc. 
 TIMER BRING STOP WATCH AND SIGNS (Wear LWV badge or I.D.) 
QUESTION SORTERS BRING 3x5 CARDS/PENCILS FOR QUESTIONS (Wear LWV badge or I.D.) 

SUMMARY TO BRING: 
LWV SIGN/BANNER, GAVEL, TABLE CLOTH/COVER, LWV HANDOUTS (IF ANY), NAME PLATES, WATER GLASSES, STOP WATCH/SIGNS, 3x5 CARDS/PENCILS, REFRESHMENTS, IF DESIRED.
